Planting seeds with your kid

This was a good project for us. My girl loves organizing, putting things here and there. She may even have a green thumb like her granny and auntie. This particular trait skipped me. I don’t even want to think about how many plants I’ve killed over the years. I have seen her hugging trees occasionally but we all do that out here. You can’t help it when you’re surrounded by such beauties all the time.
For this project, I think it would be really nice to write down your goals, wishes and blessings for the year and stash the little papers in the bottom of the egg cups. This is a great time of the year to focus on the things in your life that you want to grow.

What you’ll need-
some dirt
egg carton with the lid cut off

We sat together at the table and she filled up all the egg cups with a spoon. Then she planted the little basil seeds in the dirt. This was her favorite part.

After we talked a bit about the seeds and what they need to grow, we watered them and set them in the sunlight. Now, we get to watch them grow…hopefully!
Oh yeah and of course there was cleanup in which all clothes were tossed into the dirt on the floor and toddler chaos reigned for a few minutes as Biscuit nervously left the scene, looking worried that I might blame him for the mess. I know, I know Biscuit, this time it wasn’t your mess!
